Sparkle break

We enjoyed a three night sparkle break and thoroughly enjoyed it. From arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We were looked after in the restaurant by Avi who was very professional yet friendly and welcoming. All the staff clearly enjoy their jobs. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet allowing a good night s sleep. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is situated in a rural area which makes it so relaxing.

Enjoyable stay

We stayed for 3 nights . On arrival our champagne was waiting in an ice bucket .Room spacious with 2 beds . Plenty of room in the lounge and restaurant area . Choice of food fine for a few nights . We dined in 2evenings with our allowance from OPL very welcome.

Great Staff

My wife and I stayed 3 nights and everything about the hotel was great . The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the food in the restaurant was very enjoyable.

Enjoyable stay

My wife and I stayed here for two nights with the first night including a meal in their restaurant., Restaurant service was good but the food wasn`t. I had a humous based starter which failed to inspire followed by fish and chips which again fell far short of restaurant quality and had the feel of being mass produced as opposed to being freshly prepared. My wife had similar gripes with her starter but her main meal was enjoyed.
Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice from fresh fruit to full English.
Would return for the accommodation which was spacious but not for the restaurant food.

Nice Hotel

Stayed for 2 nights. Nice hotel. Clean and friendly . Everything you need for a few days away. There was a summer party happening on arrival day (Friday) that took over most of the downstairs and outside until it rained but everyone was friendly and inviting. There are Domes in the garden where you can have your meal but these were fully booked so not available. Would recommend as a weekday break when it is not so busy if you are looking for relaxation.

Needs a kick up the backside

The room had a peculiar smell on arrival. We opened the window and it eventually cleared, but the source is probably large amounts of water from a broken seal on the shower which means the laminate flooring in the bathroom is probably sodden and rotten.

The room was very warm and the window only opened a fraction but the air conditioning unit was broken. Not a great night's sleep.

The complementary shower gel (big bottle fixed to the wall) was almost empty, it ran out during my morning shower.

On arrival in the restaurant, we were seated and ordered food. We had to ask to order a drink first, which is very unusual. We heard other guests having to ask for a drink too. The food was average, and disappointing given the "luxury" associated with the place. I ordered fish and chips for my main course and was presented with two clearly massively produced, identical fillets which anyone could get from frozen food stores such as Iceland. I think this poor quality food was charged at 17. Every pub in the land can manage freshly battered fish but not here. At no time during the meal were we asked if everything was OK. I was so hungry I ate the food and was ready to give feedback when asked.

Breakfast was fine, fairly standard, but again no attempt by waiting staff to check if everything was OK. This is a real weakness of customer care.

The room key (card [] into a slot) failed after dinner and after breakfast. Both times I had to go to reception to get it refreshed.

On check-out, there was no attempt to ask if everything was OK. Nothing. (We had told one of the delightful cleaning staff that the shower was badly leaking and she said she'd pass this on.) I was ready to give feedback at reception, but it's clear the culture of Bowden Hall was one of not wanting to know.

The booking process with you was fine, the hotel experience very poor and definitely not worth the cost of the booking or food.

We wil visit again as central to cotswolds and such a relax ambience .hotel was clean and well maintained , we had a view of the gardens and pods from our room, staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help you . Restaurant staff so friendly and helpful , food was lovely , we would definately re visit .

Comfortable hotel with easy access to Gloucester

A very comfortable hotel with lovely staff. I enjoyed an evening meal there and two lovely breakfasts. Dinner was reasonably priced.
I did think about booking the pods fir asoecial dinner but with lots of wedding guests about, it wasn't so private.
It is a wedding venue so was a bit busier than I would have liked so would probably miss booking it for a weekend and go mid week.
