Disappointing stay
This was a repeat booking with off peak luxury as we had a fantastic time on the same deal September 2022.
This time the experience was poor due to a wedding being held within the lounge area reducing the
area for relaxing and sitting inside to a very small area which made you have to walk right through and out the front door to get around to the outside seating area.
They have a function room for weddings and to exclude paying guests from being able to access fully the lounge areas which lead onto the outside seating area was totally unfair. We paid a good amount of money for the stay and we felt as though this exclusion impinged on our experience.
The food quality was no where near as good as last year and steaks were not on the menu as they said the kitchen had a problem.
We were disappointed with the stay

very relaxing and warm and welcoming hotel with attractive bedroom and good facitlities.
Good hotel in a lovely setting
We enjoyed our break away at this hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were both spacious but would have preferred a walk in shower rather than a shower over the bath. The staff were lovely, especially at breakfast where they were really helpful.
Our short break to explore Gloucester
Excellent value for money including Champagne, afternoon tea and an evening meal included in our package. The food was very good. The room was adequate but poor view. Easy parking is always welcome.
However, Every day we were there the hotel held an external function which encroached on the comfort of the hotel guests in some way. A Wake, a school Prom and a wedding.
Would we stay here again? I said no because after exploring Gloucester there s not much else nearby.
Lovely Gloucester
A great hotel very good location, super breakfast, staff very friendly. excellent stay.
Excellent Staff
Excellent, professional staff team who are unfortunately being let down by a tired hotel that has passed its "sell by date" and is in need of a major refurbishment. We do not expect to find stained furniture and carpets in bedrooms and communal areas.
Location and staff are great and this could become a really nice place to stay, but not in its current state.
The restaurant was good, dinner menu was acceptable, but breakfast was exceptional with a wide choice of options, well worth the additional cost.
Cotswold Comfort
A lovely hotel set in such beautiful quiet location was just perfect. Friendly staff, lovely room and delicious food made this a really lovely stay and would return again willingly.
Perfect for Slimbridge
Ideal for our trip to visit Slimbridge. Reasonable choice of vegan options for my wife so ate in restaurant both evenings. Bedroom OK but only one bedside table, a first in my experience!
