Short Break
Typical business hotel on the outskirts of Gloucester, with wonderful colour scheme of white and grey, hardly a plant to be seen.
Bedrooms are now getting tired and ours had black mould all around the bath handle in the bath.
Restaurant menu was very limited and a steak one night and all you could taste was a horrible charred taste as the chargrill was to high. we had afternoon tea one afternoon all the cakes must have been bought in not made on site very dissappionting and the sandwiches were very cold so not freshly made.
Overall it was a pleasant stay but would not rush back
Bowden Hall
Overall pleasant stay. having worked in the hotel industry for 20 years there were some small items that I noticed. 1) Newly decorated reception but awful dirty red plastic bin by reception desk stood out. 2) Lack of information in bedrooms - TV instructions. Local information. No plug sockets by bed. 3) Restaurant: Mugs with spoons in on tables but nowhere to put spoon when not in mug. Bread for toaster lovely but twice the size of the plates by the toaster. Hot food containers have very hot handles. 4) Lack of facilities for smokers (I know people shouldn't smoke). Only one area available outside reception - not kept tidy - no shelter or seating. Heard comments from other guests that it made them feel like second class citizens and would stop them returning to the hotel.
5) Outside of building near reception needs attention/coat of paint as this is the first thing guests look at when they arrive.
few days away
Overall a very nice stay with all the staff friendly and helpful.
Birthday stay.
We came for 2 nights to celebrate a family members 92 birthday. We all had a lovely time, we were well cared for by all the staff, the food was fantastic, it was lovely and quiet at night, no cars, etc. the rooms were very comfortable. Fantastic breakfast, if you wanted it it was there! Big thank you from us 3.
Lovely area
We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed it very much. The room was large, although the bathroom was small but adequate. The lack of a lift was a slight concern. The breakfasts were excellent, dinner very good and the afternoon tea huge. The hotel is well placed for exploring the area.
A charming hotel
A good hotel in every in every way and good value for the tariff in November. Comfortable lounges, enjoyable food; though it might be better not to serve breakfast coffee from the Thermos immediately, since it is cold when you return from the self service area. Friendly, helpful staff and lovely, rural location.
A good place to stay with friends
Staff polite and helpful rooms quite large and clean food very good and an excellent afternoon cream tea some excellent walks close by
Brilliant!
First time we stayed here & I defiantly can't fault the place at all. Receptionist when we arrived was so jolly & helpful. Our room was cozy, warm & clean. The food in the restaurant was delicious & due to staying more than 2 days we had an afternoon tea. I would give this place 10/10 & would recommend to anyone to stay here.
