Upton St Leonards, Gloucestershire, GL4 8ED
Most aspects were very good
Downside:
Stairlift was slow and cumbersome, although staff assistance was exemplary.
No outlook from bedroom.
The slope of the ground made exploration very difficult for us (aged 88 and 84).
The remainder was excellent and particularly the staff assistance.
Decent stay, room for improvement
Stayed here with my partner for two nights, we were gifted a stay and eat voucher which had breakfast and an evening meal included. Upon arrival the customer service was friendly and reception staff were helpful. The room was clean with most of the amenities you would expect. We had a meal in the restaurant on the first evening and it s safe to say it s one of the worst meals I ve eaten. There were a lot of things that we re unavailable on the menu, some dishes very simple to make so it shows that everything is basically bought in and reheated. We weren t however told anything was off the menu until we tried to order 3 dishes to find that they were all not on that night. The steak was possibly the worst I ve ever had, luckily we had a meal voucher that covered the cost as I would have refused to pay. I also didn t send it back as I simply didn t want to eat any of the food again. My partner had the chicken tikka which resembled a badly cooked ready meal. The breakfast the next day was also very cheap and lacklustre. Overall the hotel is nice, nice grounds and a good location, rooms are clean and modern enough, just don t eat in the restaurant.
Anniversary Break
Excellent value for money. Staff very friendly giving excellent service. Ideal location to visit both Gloucester and Cheltenham.

We found the rooms very basic and dated. We would not class this hotel as luxurious. The food in the restaurant left a lot to be desired, very poor quality. The hounds were well kept and beautiful so very relaxing setting but we would not stay here again.
Four nights Cotswold break
Very welcoming, the staff were extremely helpful and dealt with a room change request without fuss. Our "new" room was of a good size and pleasant aspect, so much better than the original which was dark-and distant from the reception area. There is no lift (rooms spread over four floors). The hotel decor is a little "tired", needs a refresh but has loads of character. Lovely gardens and large car park. Food in the restaurant was of good quality and quantity, the menu and wine list was a little restricted but more than adequate for a short break. Peaceful location and ideally suited for exploring the Cotswolds.
Overall, a good experience and, despite some inexperience, this hotel's greatest asset is it's staff.
Off Peak Luxury
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Bowden Hall. We could take our dog with us, and was made very welcome by all the staff.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a post birthday treat for my wife. The hotel was outstanding, staff were friendly and very courteous. The food was excellent and the restaurant ambience was relaxing and informal. Both breakfast and evening meals were of good quality and good value for money. We would wholeheartedly recommend this to family and friends
Two night stay.
Stay at Bowden Hall for a two night thoughly enjoyable stay with evening meal included on the first night in September.
Every member of the hotel staff we met were pleasant and helpful.
My wife and I enjoyed every minute of our stay.
The hotel is well situated as a base to visit the Cotswolds.
One minor drawback was that we found the hotel slightly difficult to find given that the roadways to the hotel for the last few miles were along country roads.
But once we arrived the journey was well worth the effort.
A tranquil location and a little gem.
We will stay here again.
