Peaceful spot to get away from the crowds.
Original old Manor House converted in to a charming hotel. COVID restrictions were in place when we stayed here and the precautions taken were impressive. Although not situated immediately near a main road we found this to be an excellent base for exploring The.Cotswolds. One word of caution, there is no lift so access to the bedrooms would be difficult for a wheelchair user.
Fantastic 50th Birthday break!
Highly recommend this wonderful venue. Great value for money, super accommodation and food delicious!
It s ok
I booked for a night away for my wife. Initial impressions were good; nice location, impressive building etc. From there, though, it was just ok . Check in was fine, room fine, food fine. Nothing to write home about at all. The plug in the bath got stuck and was reported after two showers. Despite that, no one came to look so we had to shower in 8 of cold shower water the next day, not pleasant at all. Windows could not be opened in the room so it was very stuffy despite us turning the heat off. Food was standard fair. Staff were friendly though and they d made a good effort to maintain social distance. Obviously a place which was a superb independent but now just a little unloved.

Hotel good but buffet breakfast disappointing but we are in difficult times
Breakfast
Breakfast was very poor. Packet cereal and packet croissant plus ice cold fruit! One day they provided bacon rolls so why couldn t they do it every day? Or, a cooked breakfast in the lounge or restaurant. Other hotels we have been to recently have managed to provide a decent breakfast. There seemed to be a staff shortage at the hotel. However, Steve, was extremely helpful.
4* hotel it is not but ....
On arriving, at agreed time, we were offered 2 rooms until we settled on a smaller one but had light coming into the room (the others were awful). Cameron (receptionist at time) was very helpful in sorting the problem.
Having our first evening meal was good (food and wine) however we had asked for vinegar and mayonaise but are still waiting ! Other meal times went without problems.
However, one evening a group of people in the lounge received from external sources an Indian meal in several bags. I mentioned to a waiter who smiled and said that the group were residents but fancied an Indian !!!!!!! Not to worry, as they were taking it to their bedrooms !!!!!! Sorry. This is not what I expect in a 4* hotel either.
So, we had some issues but we did enjoy our stay.

Deluxe room was cold when asked reception to sort, but was told we can give you a blanket, don t want too sit with a blanket round me in a 4 star. No extractor in bathroom, windows filthy spoiled the view. Rang of peak luxury left message nobody returned my call, poor customer service, quick enough to take bookings but not wanting to hear complaints.
