Very disappointed.

DP, Northamptonshire, stayed: March 2019

Table in our room collapsed with a hot beverage on it One of the legs was broken.
Dressing table had the veneer peeling and was all sharp. Wardrobe had been repaired so many times it had more holes in it than the gorgonzola.
Dinner was badly badly plain No taste and served by over fussy staff.

Nancy W, stayed: March 2022

Very disappointed it was a present from our son
In our room was dirty underwear left in the cupboard and the food on the evening was not up to standard of a lovely hotel
Our starters arrived and then main course came over an hour later
This could be a beautiful place as the location is amazing

Profit before customer experience

I took my wife here for her birthday. Booked through Country Hotel Breaks, very efficient, that's where customer satisfaction ends. Billesley Hotel is truly a lovely building in every way. I decided to call directly to upgrade the room from one of the off site rooms to room 4 the Shakespeare room. At the time of booking I requested, and asked if the room was quiet to which I was told it was! Following our check in and suitably impressing my wife with the room we went for a walk then a drink in the bar, a lovely place. We then returned to the room to get ready for dinner. No hot water, no heating, called reception and reported, reception called back within 5 mins to advise boiler had gone out. Another 5 mins advised boiler now working and it would take some time for hot water and heating to come through. Whilst waiting we were aware of a level of noise in the room that was so intrusive that you couldn't hear the TV without turning the volume up high. Still no hot water. I went to reception and asked why we had been given this room which was not quiet, the lady on reception replied by telling me that it was a noisy room as it was above both the bar and restaurant and she would never have given us this room. Still no hot water and by this time no time to use the fantastic roll top bath etc. Requested a room change and was moved to the off site barn with heating and hot water. By way of compensation for a totally ruined evening we were offered a drink and a refund on the upgrade. Since then I was offered a 10% reduction on a future stay and finally after this insult a 50 refund. This place has no idea how to treat customer when issues arise and seem to put profit before customer satisfaction. The food on the evening in my opinion is mediocre at best, whilst breakfast is obviously down to a price, this being g cheap, better off at a Travel Lodge. Do not use, very poor. Fur coat, no knickers

We say...

Thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear the stay did not meet your expectations.

I have looked on the booking and can see you made this online and there was no comment regarding a quiet room, although I can see you mentioned that you called the hotel direct and acquired the upgrade.

We are sorry to hear the hotel's boiler was out of action for a short time, this is something that was out of their control and they resolved as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Country Hotel Breaks

Anniversary overnight stay. Disappointed

HD, West Midlands, stayed: March 2023

stayed for 1 night arrived to find we were put in a room where the bedthrow was covered in animal hair then to pull the quilt back to find human pubic hair in the bed. As if that wasn't bad enough the outside door was being wedged open with a pile of dirty sheets. My husband took photos of each item. On complaint we were moved to a room in the main house. Went to the pool had no robes and was a bit of an issue getting 2 which we eventually got !! Had a sandwich at the bar only egg mayonnaise but was just bolied egg and hardly any of it. With stale soft root veg crisps. At the cost of 11 for the sandwich we were not impressed. Spoilt our 25year anniversary celebration to each other. Such a disappointment overall it all got a bit embarrassing complaining all the time but was rightly justified. What was supposed to be a happy occasion turned out very sad

Very poor experience

Anon, stayed: July 2024

Experience on all levels really poor. If you have a dietary requirement do not come here.
Service is poor, food is expensive and badly cooked. Staff are aggressive and refuse to engage with feedback.
Rooms are satisfactory if dated and are unbearable in heat.
Absolutely overpriced and a very poor experience.
A waste of money.
