Shipston on Stour

This historic, charming and thriving town boasts many interesting features and is very popular with tourists because of its eclectic mixture of shops, restaurants, bars and hotels.
The name is derived from ancient times where it meant: 'Sheep-wash-Town'. Shipston was an important sheep market town and even after the demand for local wool diminished, the town continued to flourish over the years. It was also an important coaching town and many of the inns from that era still survive along the area of the High Street.
