About the Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled regions in England, with high, wooded hills and sweeping valleys dotted with charming, timeless villages of honey-coloured stone cottages.
Stroud
Stroud is situated at the southern edge of the Cotswolds with steep valleys and National Trust land around it. The town was at the centre of the wool industry during the 18th century and some mills are open to the public for viewing.
The pedestrianised town centre has a number of interesting shops to visit and a well known Farmer’s Market held on alternate Saturdays.
Stroud has a Museum located in Stratford Park which is popular with families and contains displays of the history of the local area.
Located high above Stroud is The Bear Hotel, a 17th-century coaching inn set among 300 acres of National Trust Land, a haven for walkers and perfect relaxing way to spend your Cotswold hotel break.
Events:
The Stroud Festival – Held annually in September, including concerts and art exhibitions.
