Enjoyable stay. An open fire which was good. Food we both had steak (rib eye). One was good but the other was difficult to eat. Nice breakfast.

Really lovely staff.

We had lots of lovely smiles when we arrived, and the receptionist was so helpful. I had upgraded our room to a four poster, but when I saw the size of bed, it was too small, as my husband was just getting over a cancer operation.and we needed a larger bed.. The staff were obliging, and found us a king size bed, although the room was not nearly as nice as the Swan room, we settled for a larger bed. .The restaurant was okay, but I think it was a Bistro place? I was thinking of nice white linen table clothes, but unfortunately, no! At a 4 star hotel, you usually have a smart dining room for guests. I have to say the food was good, but the breakfasts were to die for. Amazing, the best ever. My daughter had her honeymoon at this hotel, and comes back most years as they love it.

Made the best of it.

The hotel was nice and the staff helpful and friendly but there was a programme of redecoration in progress and lots of "wet paint" signs along corridors so it was a little difficult to manoeuvre around with arms tightly by sides.
The sitting room was cosy on the first night but the fire ran out of fuel so no fire and not welcoming the next day and nowhere comfortable to sit except in the bedroom.
The hot water took an absolute age to come through the tap, possibly 5 full minutes with both hot taps running full on before it became warm but our room was at the end of the corridor which possibly explains that.
The restaurant was fine, the staff , especially the managers, were very friendly and efficient and the food was great.
Parking for the hotel was very limited and also along the street necessitating parking quite a way away until the tourists departed and freed up some space later in the evening. It's a very popular tourist spot so needed to beware of day-trippers standing all over the roads to take photos and posing on the bridges and walkways for the same purpose.
