Ideal overnight stay if a little expensive
Good reception a pity the lift not working but very friendly, room nice but not very superior nor spacious by any means. Restaurant well staffed but mistake in kitchen over cooking the steak under done not as ordered, returned but no recompense offered as had to wait for another to be cooked while my wife dined alone!
The Swan at Bibury - October 2021
A lovely stay in a very special place for my wife & I (we spent our honeymoon at Bibury Court now closed to the public unfortunately more than 30 years ago).
Very welcoming reception and other staff working within some constraints (no room servicing) due to staff shortages.
Would be good to have a working lift; also a shame currently that the hotel can only sustain 5 day/night opening (Thurs - Mon); we would have been interested in staying longer if this had been practicable.
Particularly liked the way tables in the restaurant were so well spread out and the staggered timings for breakfast bookings to maximise customer safety in these times.
Special birthday treat at the Swan
My husband and I stayed here for one night for a special birthday occasion. It was everything we hoped it would be. Our beautiful room overlooked the river and was very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and friendly on reception and in the restaurant. The service and food in the restaurant was excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer. Our special night away certainly lived up to expectations.
Very pleasant short stay
Bibury is a very pleasant place to stay and the Swan has much to recommend it.
We found the staff throughout the hotel - housekeeping, restaurant, bar, reception - to be most helpful and polite, nothing was too much. The food served in the restaurant was of a high standard, which is just as well because it was quite pricey, as were drinks from the bar - we have recently returned from a holiday in Crete where we stayed in an hotel of similar standard and it was quite a contrast!
My main gripe is that I found the bed uncomfortable, mattress and pillows too firm for a "side sleeper", disappointing after seeing, during the booking process, reference to "feather beds" or something similar. Another point, unimportant at this time of year with early onset of dusk, is the view from the window of our rather expensive room was very disappointing. I think the room's location at the rear of the hotel should be made clear during the room selection procedure.
Overall though we were satisfied with our stay.
LOVELY PLACE TO STAY
WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND WOULD RETURN
Staff make it
Lovely hotel in a wonderful setting. Hotel staff made this a particularly relaxing experience. They couldn t do enough for us and literally made our stay.
