Very disappointing stay
I m sorry to say that my feedback following our two night stay at the Hare and Hounds is fairly negative.
Our room (room 3) was poorly presented. For example, only one bedside lamp and that one in a poor, possibly dangerous condition. The shower was very poor and the bath plug mechanism was broken. Frankly, Premier Inn bedrooms are much better quality and at a fraction of the cost.
Our evening meal in your restaurant was poor. The gluten free bread provided was inedible and the excuse that that was the only type of gluten free bread we can get in is laughable. Breakfast was also poor and again easily bettered by our Premier Inn breakfast earlier in our holiday.
To advertise the hotel as a luxury country house hotel is a considerable exaggeration. We certainly will not be staying with you again or in any of the other hotels in your group, or recommending you to friends or family.
I booked at theHare and Hounds to round off our holiday and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The experience was altogether a major disappointment.
I hope you can use this feedback to make changes necessary to bring your hotel up to the level that you clearly believe you offer to your guests.

Room dirty, hairs in bath, badly stained carpet. Room over a generator that was extremely noisy. No I would not recommend this hotel. Food was good in the restaurant and staff were helpful.

We had quite a few things go wrong during our stay. We left a comment card and didn't hear from the hotel.

Room 11. Very noisy and poor night sleep. On the main road which was noisy, above the bar and room above noisy.
1 night stay
Check in and room very good. Restaurant unable to provide either full fat milk or cream at both dinner and breakfast. Waiter got breakfast order wrong twice after which we gave up. More training required for junior members of staff. Receptionist who checked us out was very efficient.
A lovely short break
This has the potential to be 5 star. However the proliferation of piped music tended to spoil our enjoyment, and to be told by reception that it can ben intimidating to enter a silent room was sheer nonsense. At the age of 91 and 84 we should not have to suffer being called 'you guys' by a number of members of staff and certainly not be addressed as young lady or young man. We felt patronised. What a pity - it could be so good. Why not build on those wonderful breakfasts! We would need persuading to stay here again.
Lovely restaurant and ambiance but issues with the room.
We booked for one night on a Friday and also had dinner in the main restaurant and breakfast. It is a beautiful building and the food and service in the restaurant was outstanding. The issues were with the room. Firstly, the walls were extremely thin and you could hear everything. We were kept up by people talking well into the early hours of the morning. It was so bad that we had to ring the night porters at 2am and 3am to try and get them to stop. We also found the beds rock hard and the pillows uncomfortable. Overall we had about two hours sleep and woke up completely exhausted. Reception were very apologetic in the morning and gave us 50 off our stay but with the room costing in excess of 200 we felt a bit short changed. I would definitely return to eat or go to the bar but wouldn t stay again.
A little disappointing
The hotel is in a great location. Friendly welcoming reception staff and spacious clean room. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. However the award winning restaurant was very disappointing and over priced. The bar and lounge areas are comfortable and inviting but service is quick to finish. As residents we were unable to find anyone to serve a drink after 11pm.
We spent two nights at the hotel which was enjoyable but felt it was expensive.
