Facilities at Hatton Court

Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home, the feeling is one of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand.

Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush.

The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complimented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good nights sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. Just 3 miles from Gloucester, this is a perfect base to explore all the history and heritage that the City of Gloucester has to offer.

The Tara Restaurant

With large panoramic windows that take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the Severn Vale and the distant Malvern Hills, the spectacular location of the 1 AA Rosette Tara Restaurant is matched with genuinely warm hospitality, fine food and an extensive selection of wines.

In summer months you can enjoy alfresco dining on the terraces or just simply enjoy an aperitif and canapés, coffee and petit fours, or a glass of champagne as the sun slips behind the distant hills. During the winter, log fires roar in the reception and lounge, the perfect spot to indulge in a fine Vintage Port or aged Cognac.

The natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The Tara Restaurant is open every day for hearty English Breakfasts, Morning Coffee and Cakes, Leisurely Lunches, gloriously indulgent Afternoon Teas and candlelit Dinners. Traditional delicious roasts served every Sunday Lunch.

Classy place, beautifully decorated

Steve F, GLAMORGAN, stayed: June 2018

The recent makeover here is near perfect. The subtle shades of greys and browns make for a classy feel to the hotel. The piped music is quiet and not bang bang bang modern rubbish, very nice.
The room was lovely, no fault to be found.
The evening meals we had were excellent, better than anything I've experienced in a place with these modest prices. Superb.
Unfortunately, a couple of faults here spoiled it all. I told them I was dairy free, so could they provide soya milk. They didn't. Nor day 2. Only on day 3 did it appear. Also, the cooked breakfast was not good at all. All the food seems to be cooked early, so if you take breakfast later, 9am ish, you've got hard eggs, hard sausages and 'old' bacon. What a shame, when the evening meals are so excellent.

Family Gathering

DW, stayed: May 2018

We enjoyed celebrating a family birthday at Hatton Court. First I must mention how impressed I was with Off Peak Luxury The price was amazing and the customer service is great. The whole booking process was very easy from start to finish and all correspondence answered promptly.
We were a group of 8 covering various ages and everyone had an amazing time, the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough, even finding a toothbrush for one of the guests. We requested a birthday cake, it was huge and supposedly the smallest one they provide, it was delicious. The outdoor seating area was lovely. We had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast all of which were lovely and all requests were delivered. The rooms had everything in them mini bar, iron, fan and a huge bath. The only one thing i would suggest would be to have a free standing shower as my elderly parents found it difficult to climb into the bath to use the shower. We encountered a small problem with the plumbing, beyond the control of OPL and the staff at the hotel but hopefully this will be resolved soon by the hotel management. I would definitely recommend OPL to everyone and I have.

Fantastic break

Denise. London, stayed: May 2018

I have never used Off Peak Luxury before so I was slightly sceptical, the price for afternoon tea, dinner breakfast and an overnighted stay seemed too good to be true. It was fabulous! The communication with OPL was amazing and made the whole booking process really easy. I had to contact them a couple of times and received prompt efficient replies.
The hotel was also very accommodating even making us a delicious birthday cake, which we ended up taking home because the food was so good and plentiful, the staff at the hotel were very helpful. We had one small problem that has been quickly resolved.
Don't hesitate to book. I know I will be again very soon.

Short break

TF, Worcestershire, stayed: May 2018

My husband and I stayed at Hatton Court for two nights for a much needed rest.
The food in the restaurant was very good, each meal we had was well prepared, hot and served on warmed plates.
Unfortunately, the service was very slow. We were kept waiting nearly an hour for our first course and a long time between each course. This somewhat spoiled the evenings, however, as I said the food was first class.
We were disappointed that the pictures in the brochure certainly did not reflect the upgraded room we were given. The paint was peeling in our bathroom and the room generally looked very tired. It was clean.
We booked the room on seeing the online pictures and felt that this was representative of what we actually got. Maybe, Hatton Court need to update website correctly.

An enjoyable stay

Ian, Cumbria, stayed: May 2018

An ideal location, the hotel had welcoming and helpful staff. The room was quiet with nice views over the fields towards Gloucester. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job. The restaurant provided a varied menu with beautifully cooked food and the choice at breakfast was also excellent. All in all an enjoyable 2 night stay which, when you include the meal allowances and champagne, represented good value.
