Following her marriage to Sir Thomas Seymour, Sudeley Castle was the home of Queen Katherine Parr. It was also visited by Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, with a more recent visit being made by Queen Elizabeth I.
Sudeley Castle has had a turbulent history. After being destroyed by Cromwell’s troops, the castle remained a ruin for over 80 years before, in 1837, the Dent brothers buying the estate and beginning restoration.
The Gallery at Sudeley Castle houses works by Rubens, Van Dyk and Claude Lorraine while St Mary’s Church in the grounds, holds the tomb of Queen Katherine Parr.
